Since matches[1] existence implies matches[0] (first) existence, this cleanup makes sense. Was this triggered by a specific bug (like a NoMethodError), or just general refactoring?

while running hostingedge cookbook, it was causing errors in varnish recipes NoMethodError: undefined method first
