If the variance is not specific to Hunter, then I think we should make this change in core instead, within the pet.SetTimeoutAction() method, where we rename the duration input to tooltipDuration instead and perform the random roll offset internally. That way other summons like Druid Treants will also be fixed at the same time. What do you think?
