I made some minor changes in code and adapted it to work on Android Studio. It's a big change but Android Studio is what I use and I need some changes for my own use. I put it here in case it can be helpful for anyone.

Would you be interested in forking this repository and maintaining the forked version?

I’m not using android-davsync anymore these days, so I’m not too motivated to verify your changes and maintain the project anymore.

Yes, I would be interested. I use the program a lot now.

Cool. I suggest you set up a repository on GitHub (e.g. by forking mine, then enabling Issues). Once you’ve done that, let me know the URL, and I’ll add a notice that redirects people from my repository to yours.

I’m not entirely sure how I can transfer ownership in the play store. Could you have a look and give me a pointer to a good instruction please?

I have already enabled issues in my fork. URL is https://github.com/scastrorico/android-davsync.

As for play store ownership, I don't have a developer account. I think it isn't possible to transfer ownership without one.

Can you create a developer account? Without one, how would you be able to publish your modification?

I don't want to create a developer account now. Maybe in some months I'll have access to one and I could use it for this then.
Meanwhile I thought in distribute apk files as github releases. It's enought for my pourposes.
