ESLint started failing under the react-hooks immutability/set-state-in-effect rules because a few small UI components were doing synchronous state updates inside effects (including mount-gating with a setState-on-mount pattern). That pattern adds an unnecessary extra render and can lead to cascading re-renders/perf issues; it also violates the immutability expectations of the hooks tooling in this repo. This refactor removes the effect-driven state entirely: `DurationCompact` now derives its output directly from `useTime()`/props via memoization (no local timer or setState), and `RefreshPauser`/`ThemeSelector` no longer maintain a redundant `mounted` flag. The components are now pure/derived from their inputs, making them more deterministic and robust under the hooks lint rules.
Reset local dialog selections on each open by scoping state to a component that is only mounted while open, so rerender-driven closes (e.g. tests/route changes) can’t preserve stale mode/resetHistory; also add a minimal getAnimations polyfill in the Vitest setup to keep Headless UI tests stable and quiet.
