add -DOPENSSL_API_COMPAT=0x10000000L I also removed the if conditional on the configure but I think it should compile with this CFLAGS

well can delete this.. it won't compile... on recent openssl version you can't call EVP members so wi-socket.c in net / libwired fails because
try to access member pkey->type this is not allowed anymore
