In my opinion, this should still be done, as it is a matter of security.

The current version of the API Tools supports version 8.2 of PHP, which will receive security support until 31 December 2026. So no problem on this side.
And adding support for another PHP version means that support must be added for all packages. This is a lot of work, as was the case with version 8.2, because the code base does not support newer versions.
Unfortunately we don't have the capacity to continue this project here. (And yes, we do all these projects in our spare time!)

And if you look at our other sub-projects, you will see that we often merge pull requests for packages that are in security-only maintenance mode.
