I'm debugging #145 and it took a minute to get everything building. I'm not merging this just yet because it's wrong. Dependencies vary across platforms.
Note to self: The reason
build-essentialis listed is because I had amissing linker ccfailure. Also later I had a failure missing pkg-config which, after fixing, finally lead me to the missing gtk lib failure.
