Hi,
I had an issue with pisa:

As you can see from this thread, the bug may be part of PIL rather than pisa; however i m using PIL 1.1.7 (this 'bug' should be fixed in PIL-1.1.6) but it is still here anyhow.
I suggest a commit of one line length to make pisa compatible with several PIL libs:

A few line below my fix you can see:
self._dataA = PmlImageReader(im.split()[3])
The im.split() calls fail with:
if self.im.bands == 1:
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'bands'
