Given our discussion today, @florisvb, I think this one is totally anodyne, so I'm going to merge it to make my life easier over on #98. Still take a look if you're interested.

Maybe the best thing about this is that you can now call python3 -m pytest --plot to see how methods perform against the test functions. I'll be using this and the error bounds when untangling #89.
