Hi there, I’m Will Maberry

About Me

I'm a Computer Science undergraduate at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) and a Research Assistant with the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS), engineering a national-scale early-warning forecast system for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI, H5N1).

Research Interest

My work focuses on machine learning pipelines for infectious disease modeling:

  • Imbalance: Spatiotemporal modeling under extreme class imbalance (~1% prevalence).
  • Integrity: Leakage-safe evaluation via walk-forward validation.
  • Interpretability: Discovering how black-box models work with SHAP, ternary confusion matrices, log-scale calibration, etc.
