great video series that is easy to follow.

Code School's ruby path is very solid and will help you continue to ‘connect the dots’ on your journey to becoming an awesome developer.
Rails Tutorial is considered the standard for beginning rails developers
A comprehensive Rails track from TeamTreehouse
All of the TeamTreehouse Ruby videos (you can add them to your dashboard and work through each independent of a track)
The Odin Project aggregates lots of great resources in one place, with great challenges after you complete each reading assignment.
A great resource for learning JS
THIS is one my favorite options for understanding the basics of Ruby.
Ruby Monk- love it or hate it, this is a great way to grow in your ruby knowledge.
A book written by some of the best developers in the world
The Rails Crash Course helped me tremendously in understanding the core concepts of Rails/MVC
What I like to call ‘The Rails Bible’, great resource to use when you need to get into the details of rails.
The companion to the above ‘Rails Bible’… but for Ruby. yay!
RubyTapas is for the busy Ruby or Rails developer who is ready to reach the next level of code mastery JavaScript for Cats Surprisingly insightful and awesome

Challenges

Code Wars - is an excellent way to sharpen your skills. I try to spend at least 30 minutes a day working on problems.
Code Combat - a fun and quirky way to learn basic JS or Python
Ruby Warrior - an 8-bit style version of a text based game, created to help you learn Ruby

##To get involved (and get noticed)
RefactorCop - locates open source projects that need help with refactoring (an excellent way to start contributing to open source, and get comfortable with more advanced git actions)

Code for Charlotte - you should already be involved here.
Charlotte Ruby Group - come meet other great ruby devs
Charlotte JS - hardcore JS with a great group of people
Charlotte Front End Developers - great topics concerning all things front-end

For freelancing (building a CMS with Rails)

SpinaCMS - an open source rails gem that creates simple, elegant CMS solutions
Locomotive CMS - fast and fun CMS dev
Case In - a very simple ruby gem based on bootstrap

Podcasts

Code Newbie - Awesome resource for new developers. (I’d recommend starting at the beginning)
Ruby Rogues - This is a panel that discusses various ruby topics. Can trend towards advanced, but definitely worth listening to.
The Ruby on Rails podcast - extremely in-depth resource that just launched a new season.
Reboot - a Thoughtbot experiment that interviews people that transitioned from various careers into development
Giant Robots Smashign into Other Robots - Thoughtbot podcast dealing with dev, design, business, etc (usually has an interview)
The BikeShed - another Thoutbot podcast that deals with personal experiences in developing apps
Developer Tea - short podcasts that deal with all various aspects of becoming a great developer
The FrontSide - two guys talking about code and life
Hansel Minutes - Like NPR’s fresh air… just aimed at developers
