autoblogger - a quick and dirty program to create a static blog from an email account Author: Chris Moyer, chris@inarow.net, http://inarow.net/ Updates: http://inarow.net/entries/projects/one_evening/autoblogger/ Git Repo: git://github.com/cdmoyer/autoblogger.git See LICENSE for licensing details. Requirements -------------- Listed version are those it's been tested/developed under. 1. perl (v5.8.8) 2. perl modules Template (v2.19) Mail::POP3Clientnet (v2.17) IO::Socket::SSL (v1.12) # for SSL servers MIME::Tools (v5.425) Date::Manip (v5.45) File::Copy::Recursive (v.35) GD (v5.004) Usage -------------- autoblogger.pl [args] path-to-storage path-to-published-site -v [--verbose] Verbose mode -h [--host=]* Pop Host -u [--user=]* Pop User -p [--pass=]* Pop Password -s [--ssl] Use SSL -n [--nopop] Don't get newmessages -r [--rebuild=] Rebuild output index,200708 or index or 200708 or all -i [--indexsize=] How many posts on the index -e [--extension=] Extension for output html (default html) [--tmp=] tmp directory (defaults to /tmp [--thumbsize=] thumbnail size (defaults to 150x150) [--fullsize=] full image size (defaults to 800x800) [--from=] only process messages where the from: matches this regex (Still downloaded) * required Inside the templates directory, you must have three files: index.tpl - index.html template archive.tpl - used for monthly indexes rss.tpl - generates rss feed The tar ball, and svn, includes the templates I use for my site (http://proudestfather.inarow.net/) This will create the HTML files for your blog, in the path-to-published-site directory. It will not touch any other files, so you can include other content in the target path (CSS, images, other pages, etc). To populate the site, you send email to your autoblogger email address. This should be an address you set up just for this purpose. The emails you send should include one photo. The subject will become the title of the blog post, the body will be the blog content, and the image will be... the image! If you start your body with a line such as: >date: 2005-12-25 You can fudge the date of your posts. Good luck. ToDo -------------- * Add custom attributes in messsages: >Foo:
