In its current state this PR is more a question than a serious proposal -- are you interested in this change?
If yes, I can polish it up. I also wonder if there is a "wasm-portable" time API that samod could use instead of std:: time.
This is what I had to do to get samod up and running as a rust-only automerge-repo client in a web-only Dioxus app. With out it the app would crash browser-side.
