First Steps
Lets just recap on how to install the plugin before we get into it:
- Download the latest version on the Releases page (https://github.com/Takanu/Capsule/releases)
- Under Blender’s User Preferences Menu, in the Add-ons section, click, “Install From File”, and select the ZIP file.
- The add-on will appear in the list, simply click the checkbox next to it’s title to activate it.
When you install Capsule for the first time you'll be prompted to Create Capsule Data. This will create a little empty object in the scene called, '>>Capsule Blend File Data<' which will be hidden and locked, and this contains the export presets you've created. Feel free to move it wherever you want just DONT RENAME OR DELETE IT.
Capsule can be summed up in three panels:
This menu is tucked under the Capsule entry in the Addons menu, the same one you used to install Capsule. This menu has four individual dropdown boxes:
-
Saved Presets - This is a place for Export Presets that are saved directly on the addon rather than the .blend file you're using, as well as the Unity and UE4 Standard exports that are included. Under the list is a big "Add to Active Export Presets* button which adds the selected preset into the Active Export Presets list.
-
Active Export Presets - These are the export presets that are saved in the currently loaded .blend file, and in this menu you can create and customize them. You need to make at least one Active Export Preset to export assets using Capsule.
-
Key Shortcuts - This dropdown lets you customize the one shortcut the addon has - to bring up the pie menu for editing selections.
-
Extra Settings - A few extra settings for configuring Capsule's behaviour and one big reset button if you want to zero out all the settings you've applied to objects in this file.
You'll find this in the 3D View Sidebar under the "Capsule" tab and you use this to edit the export settings of anything you select.
You'll also get similar features if you hit the 'E' key to bring up the pie menu (you can change this in Addon Preferences).
You'll find this in the Properties Panel under Scene, then under the Capsule dropdown. This lets you get an overview of all the Objects and Collections you've marked for export and lets you edit them.
Also this is where you can make File Locations, this is a centralized list of all the locations you want to export assets to and you need one of these to export assets with Capsule.
