Up to date for Platform 0.39.3

Written by Connor Jakubik

System Requirements

Compatibility (Full Application)

Component Requirement
Operating System Windows 10 or 11
CPU Architecture x86-64
GPU / Driver DirectX 12
Internet Access Authentication / login required on each application start.

We hope to support Linux and MacOS for the full STPro application at some point, but that is not currently in active development.

Approximate Storage Needs (as of v0.39.3)

Component Size
Space Teams Pro Downloaded .zip 32 GB
STPro Core Assets 13 GB
Planet Data 55 GB
Compiler/Development Tools for Systems ~5 GB
Typical User-Generated Content ~0.2 GB
Misc Generated Temp Files ~5 GB
Total 111 GB

Hardware Specifications

These are the minimum and recommended computer specifications for suitability for running Space Teams Pro. These are somewhat untested / unverified; please try running our demo sims to see if your computer is powerful enough for / compatible with Space Teams Pro.

Minimum Spec (1080p 30fps)

Arbitrarily chose 2021 time-of-release for listed hardware to match a majority of existing computers. Notably, having less than 8GB of VRAM can cause instability.

Component Requirement
CPU Ryzen 3 5300G, i3-10105F, or equivalent (4+ cores)
RAM 16 GB
GPU RTX 3050, or equivalent
GPU VRAM 6GB+
Network 20Mbps, <300ms latency to other users
Storage SSD (with DRAM cache)

Recommended Spec (1440p 60fps)

Arbitrarily chose 2021 time-of-release for listed hardware to match a majority of existing computers.

Component Requirement
CPU Ryzen 7 5700G, i5-11600K, or equivalent (6+ cores)
RAM 16 GB (32 is better)
GPU RTX 3070, or equivalent
GPU VRAM 8GB+
Network 50Mbps, <200ms latency to other users
Storage PCI-E Gen3 x4 SSD

Recommended Spec (VR, Meta Quest 2, 36fps in 72fps mode)

Component Requirement
CPU Ryzen 7 5700G, i5-11600K, or equivalent (6+ cores)
RAM 16 GB (32 is better)
GPU RTX 4070, or equivalent
GPU VRAM 8GB+
Network 50Mbps, <200ms latency to other users
Storage PCI-E Gen3 x4 SSD

Performance Scaling

Component Details
CPU Maximizing multithreaded performance is most important. Relevant for avoiding hitches while moving around a planet, decreasing load and compile times, etc.
GPU Will most likely be GPU-limited in terms of raw FPS. Especially in VR. Higher VRAM up to ~16GB will aid in avoiding hitches, slowdowns, and crashes (GPU timeout) due to shuffling data between storage and VRAM.
RAM Can comfortably use 32GB of RAM; 64GB may be necessary for edge cases.
Network Typically don't need above 50 Mbps, besides for update downloading. Latency to other users impacts multiuser experience but shouldn't directly affect simulation performance.
Storage Storage read speed matters for avoiding hitches while moving around a planet. Random I/O matters for compile and general use performance.

Compatibility (Compute_Server / Python API Only)

NOTE: We are not yet releasing STPro (even just the Compute_Server portion) for platforms besides Windows. We have Linux and MacOS working internally; please post an Issue if you would like to request a release on a different OS or CPU architecture (without the graphics / interaction client; only Compute_Server / Python API).

Component Requirement
Operating System Windows 10 or 11, Linux (WIP), MacOS (WIP)
CPU Architecture x86-64, ARM64 (WIP)
GPU / Driver Unnecessary
Internet Access Unnecessary
