This is a git aware patch.sh
basically takes the original patch and makes it a function, makes a function for git aware patching, and then takes things in common (compilation and making index) and makes them their own functions.
Please make sure to test this out. It should work fine as it's pretty much the earlier version with a new option, and that new option is working for me. I have no proper way to test original functionality and I wouldn't know what to look for anyway, but if a bug got in there it is likely pretty minor and obvious, an artifact of moving things around.
