The flow of information through the agent will in general pass through each of the components in order to turn agent context into agent action. Consider the following diagram showing a description of how data is generally transformed as it passes between components.

In order to better organize the inner parts of the components, the PECS model suggests that components should be split into Physical, Emotional, Cognitive, and Social aspects as shown below.
