Introduction

Written entirely in Python, Apps is an apps installer for the Kano OS. It lets users download applications from Kano World and install them on the OS. It's made using the GTK 3.12 toolkit and not much else.

It's designed to work closely with the distribution packages system: it only keeps metadata for packages. The main idea is to make awesome free and open source projects, games and programs easily available to the users of our OS.

We emphasise the ease of use and visual attractiveness so people are keen to explore and experiment with programs they wouldn't have looked for. For selected applications we provide a customised icon and a distinct colour so the users can recognise them easily.

When used with kdesk, you can add the icons from apps to the desktop.
