BMICalculatorApp - Version for Adults
BMICalculatorApp is a free and interactive Shiny web app, created and developed by Raúl Hileno, PhD, as part of the EasySportsApps GitHub project. It allows anyone to monitor their own weight and BMI, or that of another person, over time. It should not be used with people under 18 years old, during pregnancy, in cases of diagnosed or suspected eating disorders, or when a medical condition affects height. The app provides a secure and organized way to store registered confidential information and offers the following features:
New person entry: Input a person's ID, sex, weight, and height to instantly calculate and visualize their BMI.
New person BMI calculation: Displays the BMI value and its classification according to the World Health Organization (WHO) standards.
Download report: Generate and download a PDF report of the BMI calculation for the new person entry.
Registered data: View, search, filter, and edit all registered data in an interactive table. You can also download the filtered data in CSV, XLSX, or PDF formats.
In future versions, we are considering adding the following features:
Birth date input: A new input to register the person's birth date.
Automatic age calculation: A new function to instantly calculate the person's exact age in decimal years.
Report download button: A new button in the interactive table to download reports for each record.
Send report by email: A new button in the interactive table to send reports directly by email to the registered person.
Person progress plot: A new plot to visualize the follow-up and evolution of each registered person over time.
If you have any suggestions for improvement, feel free to share them in the Discussions section of our GitHub repository or send us an email.
We greatly appreciate contributions from app users through our donation link. Thank you!
