Gtk4 somewhat brings back issues with autohide

hi,
this issue pointed out an issue with autohiding windows behaving weirdly, which was traced back to wayfire itself and fixed in this pull request

However, on the gtk4 version here, a similar looking issue happens, with the windows warping, jerking and struggling to show, though they never become unusable.

You'll have to forgive my denseness, but watching those two videos I can't tell a notable difference. Or even which one depicts the expected behaviour and which one depicts the problem.

It looks like previously this was fixed by changing layer-shell, which might still work.

Sorry, my bad, explained it quite poorly

What i meant was :
Both recordings show the same behavior. I included that the 2nd recording is on my own branch just in case there was any other breaking on it due to my own changes.
Notice how i would keep my cursor against the edge of the screen and the panel would not show, until i moved the cursor away, at which point it pops out abruptly, without animation, looking similar to the original problem.
Unlike the original problem, the panel doesn’t become unusable, but i still find it highly disruptive since it blocks the showing of it, besides looking quite jarring to my eyes.

If you don’t see it, np, tell me and i’ll edit a side by side of the normal and problematic behaviors.
