Could this be made into a "3D" game?!

Right now all the action in this game takes place in a single plane. Imagine there were a plane below and above this. When you're in the lower plane, your ship would be smaller, when in the higher plane, your ship would be larger.

Perhaps planets are only in the middle plane? Perhaps you travel faster in the top plane? Perhaps the power ups and asteroid belts are in the lower plane?

• How could you ever be able to tell what plane you're in compared to a planet

• O raises a level/layer, P drops you a level/layer
• No. In fact, mines couldn't be dropped in the top layer. Weapons can always fire within the layer the weapon exists in
• Planets always exist in the lowest and middle levels. You'll know you're in the top level because (a) your ship would be huge and (b) everything underneath you would be faded out slightly [I just thought of this]
• MORE space? No. An easier way to traverse vast areas of space without smashing into planets constantly, yes. Also, dropping powerups into the lowest level to make space more interesting might be ... interesting.
• Belts. Made of asteroids. (Were you perhaps thinking of hemorrhoids?) They would be compromised of tons of little chunks of rock flying through space. And big groups of rocks that would be travelling together.

I consider these apt answers, but they all simply lead to more sub-features. We're incredibly feature top-heavy in the issue queue now, and someone needs to pick out the very top level bite-sized low hanging fruit to add to the project before progress on any can continue.
