Sign-up problem with valid email length

When I try to register an account at https://signup.steemit.com it throws me the following exception in the email address field:

email is too long valid xx.xx@xx.xx each xx 20 max

**Note: my email address is longer than 20 characters.
The limit of an email address is a maximum of 64 characters (octets) in the "local part" (before the "@") **
