'Reddit API returned Forbidden (403) response.' from Today

I am getting this error 'Reddit API returned Forbidden (403) response.' from Today on this request

        List<DigestedRedditPostModel> digestedRedditPosts = new();
        List<Post> posts = _redditClient.Subreddit(subReddit).Search(new SearchGetSearchInput(keywords));

I already applied the solution by [janssen-io] and it was working before, but now I am getting this issue.

@nichovski if it helps you, i gave up on using .net and moved to praw for Python and was super fast to implement.

I'm having the same problem. Pretty sure my token/secret/id combination is correct..

This lib no longer works. Just switch to python and use prew instead. Don't waste anytime on investment.

I have started getting this error today. I have also tried to use patched library by [janssen-io], but getting the same error. Updating useragent to the format required by reddit also didn't help :(

I have fixed this by using patched library by [janssen-io] + removing refresh and access tokens passed to RedditClient (using nulls instead)

Hi, can you give an example? I have the patched library but still getting a 403. this is the code I have:

var reddit = new RedditClient(appId: "myAppId", appSecret: null, refreshToken: null);

is that what you mean when you say you're passing in nulls?

@ygetarts and anyone else struggling, here's what it took for me to get this working again:

1. Get the latest Reddit.NET fork from https://github.com/janssen-io/sirkris-Reddit.NET/ (this is the fork with the authentication update, not the original sirkris code)
2. Make sure you pass in the refresh and access tokens to new RedditClient()
3. Pass a modern user agent for the last parameter of RedditClient(). Apparently the default UA (something like "Reddit.NET 1.52") is banned by Reddit.

Here's what my code looks like now:

                var tokens = AuthorizeUser(appId);

                r = new RedditClient(appId, 
                    tokens.RefreshToken, 
                    null, // App Secret
                    tokens.AccessToken, 
                    "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/144.0.0.0 Safari/537.36"); // Latest Chrome UA

Yes, Reddit.NET is limping along and PRAW is the preferred solution. But changing the three lines in my old app keeps it limping along without getting Python involved in my .NET app.
