Multiple Versions per Schema

Does it maybe make sense to allow multiple version references per schema? Or even extend to a regex?
It seems like vendors come up with a schema per major-minor release, but the sub-minor (whatever it is called) versioning is to fix bugs etc. so one schema version is applicable to multiple reported software version strings.

My proposal is to split the internal representation from the external (yaml) one.
In yaml we allow the version to be an array of version strings but internally we continue using the existing struct, hence have functionality that loops over the yaml versions and generated multiple internal structs from this, pointing to the same schema data.
