Line maps of heavy element recombination lines

What is the difference between the recombination and collisional lines, that avoid the first ones to produce the maps? BTW, what do you mean by "line maps"?

I'm referring to the cubes produced by mocassinPlot from which you can create images in particular emission lines. My title was not clear, I updated it - it's specifically heavy element recombination lines, and it is because mocassinPlot doesn't include the routines to calculate them.
