Buffer with pdf file remains

With this plugin, when I open a pdf with :e I get the converted text, as expected, instead of the binary mess that would normally result from opening a pdf in vim. However, the pdf file itself is still open in a hidden buffer. Is there a way to avoid that? Reading the documentation I thought the solution to this issue could involve using the g:pdf_hooks dictionary, but I'm not technically sofisticated enought to come up with a funcion that does that (if that is even how you could go about solving this issue at all).

The path for my converted files is ~/.open-pdf.vim.cache, maybe there is a way to change the location for converted files?
