Backing up readonly files/folders #1

Description

@cantoute

I'm using rdiff-backup on debian 7 to backup web sites over a nfs share.
I host a few drupal setups and everything was going smoothly until I deleted one site.
Drupal has a folder called sites/default where it stores things like site name, database passwords etc... and for security reasons it sets that folder to read-only.
rdiff-backup hits a fatal error "permission denied" when it comes to altering that folder in the backup folder.
I've tried a 'chmod -R u+w /my/backup/folder' and that didn't solve problem.
I googled and couldn't find anything relevant.
The only workaround I found was to backup on a new empty folder...
Anyone has had that issue? Am I missing something?
Regards
Antony
