Hello future collaborators.
We are building a Humanoid startup called Sentient X.
We started by replicating an open source design called OpenArm, and then took those learning to design a humanoid from scratch and build it - this first version is around 4.5ft and 40kg in weight and is designed to act as a hardware for initiating software development. We will then be initiating work on a variant of this humanoid designed for initial sales - this will look much more like typical robots from major chinese robotics companies.
Its complex to figure out the moral aspects of sentient robots in our world - specially India. However, we cannot this to become yet another technology that India lags behind on.
Given the scale of data generation which is at the heart of training and deploying these robots for real jobs - we believe that India can be the ideal center for generation of large scale training data.
When it comes to humanoids - the world is still a long way to go to achieve widespread deployment. We see that robots are going to be notorious to deploy, manage and operate - and hence there will be need for deployment centric companies with forward deployed engineers (FDEs) to bridge the gap between building hardware robots and deploying them for real in real world use cases. We anticipate data, and FDEs will remain important to this process and hence beyond building our humanoid initial variants we are going to work on how we may use India's population advantage to generate lower cost, high quality task datasets to achieve better models and hence more real world deployable robots.
