Hi. For new units (feet, yards, etc.) your function getUnits() is incorrect. The ExtendScript API doesn't have direct access to them yet.

I used your idea to parse the units from activeDocument.XMPString. It's working now, although it doesn't differentiate between "Feet" and "Feet & Inches".

Because "Feet" and "Feet & Inches" are the same size in Transform panel. It is enough to get "Feet" information from XMP.

The problem with the XMP method is that the document has to be saved every time after change "Document Setup". I would use the switch...case construct for activeDocument.rulerUnits. For RulerUnits.Unknown only read XMP, and the old rulers (RulerUnits.Pixels, etc.) can be collect when you change "Document Setup" without saving and converted to abbreviations.
