Request: bump bundled npm on Node 24.x

Node 24 (Active LTS) currently ships npm 11.6.2. I see the bump to 11.8.0 has already landed on the Node 25 branch via nodejs/node#61466, but there’s no corresponding PR for 24.x that I can see for either patch (11.6.4) or minor (11.7 or 11.8).

For teams that standardize on the Node-bundled npm — for best compatibility between local dev, CI, Dependabot, and other tooling — version drift between the Active LTS and what’s current on npm creates unnecessary friction.

Asking: is there a plan or timeline to bump npm on 24.x, or is there something blocking it? 11.6.4 at least, if not 11.7 or 11.8?

Ah! It is in works: nodejs/node@3b24691 - I missed that.

For future, is there a reason the intermediate ones weren’t pushed up, or is there a reference doc to see plans and status for bundled npm updating?

This would be the wrong place to make a request for Node.js bundling. Updates happen automatically under the ownership of the Node.js organization, when there are new Node.js releases. Releases are roughly every month, so there are built-in delays between npm releasing a new version here in this repo, and then a Node.js release including a new version of npm.
