flimsy handling may break some of the smaller pieces, so an extra 1u key holder or two would be appreciated.

This can be easily arranged. Would this be better as a separate SVG that a user can add on or included in the the "default" template.

Great idea having it as an optional seperate SVG. However, once you have optimised the cutting template to minimise wasted space, if you can fit an extra 1u key holder or two, I don't see why they shouldn't be put there. Maybe having an option would be a good idea, and that way the user can decide if the difference in print cost is worth it
