Owon XDM1241 broken on linux with uart driver

Arch linux with ngscopeclient 0.1.1
Basic user permissions to access /dev/ttyUSB0 are set.

** Problem**
Setting up a multimeter using the owon_xdm driver and uart straight up freezes the whole application.
The same my friend also observed on his Macbook.
He on the otherhand could use the /dev/cu.usbserial-21310 device on his Macbook to talk to it.
Therefore i suspect something fishy with the DCD in the uart driver perhaps?
