Recommended PHP version in Nextcloud and PHP version included in Docker image

Nextcloud 30 recommends PHP 8.3:

On the other hand, the image includes 8.2:

Why is it like this? Shouldn't it include the recommended one? Or at least have tags of the supported PHP versions to be able to choose:

• nextcloud:30.0.6-fpm-alpine-php82
• nextcloud:30.0.6-fpm-alpine-php83

The v31 images were recently bumped to 8.3 as of #2394. They'd been blocked on Imagick/imagick#640 until a temporary workaround was implemented.

But, yeah, I guess we could probably do the same bump for the v30 images too. The v30 images have the same workaround anyhow.

@J0WI You see any reason not to bump the v30 images too now that #2394 is in place?

As in support multiple PHP versions?

Is there some reason you want to have multiple PHP versions supported (versus just the recommended one)?

AFAIK the only reason we ended up off-track from the recommended version for each version of Server was due to the previously mentioned Imagick matter.

@joshtrichards let me explain:

In my case I create a Nextcloud image starting from the one in this repository but making modifications like including an app developed by me from scratch.

If I upgrade to an image of a new version of Nextcloud it will always force me to use the recommended version of PHP without being able to choose. For example, in version 30 / 31 you can still use version 8.2 if you want, you don't need to switch to 8.3.

That is, upgrading the Nextcloud version would force me to upgrade my PHP code to the new version at the same time.

Ideally, if my code is compatible with 8.2 but not 8.3 I can do the upgrade in 2 steps. First upgrading to the next version of Nextcloud and in a second effort, the PHP version.
