Intended Agent Scenarios

Dear Azure FinOps / MCP Team,
I am developing an agentic platform focused on multi-cloud FinOps, enabling AI agents to perform natural language-based cost analysis, generate optimization recommendations, and automate actions across cloud providers.
I have successfully integrated Google Cloud's Recommender MCP capabilities, which allows agents to directly query and retrieve detailed cost-saving recommendations (e.g., rightsizing VMs, idle resource detection, committed use discounts) via APIs. This enables seamless, real-time FinOps workflows in an agentic environment.
More recently, AWS has released a dedicated Billing and Cost Management MCP Server that exposes powerful FinOps tools—such as cost analysis, waste audits, savings opportunities, and recommendation retrieval—directly to AI agents through the Model Context Protocol. This makes advanced optimization features accessible via natural language without custom scripting.
For Azure, I greatly appreciate the robust FinOps toolkit, including:

FinOps hubs (with excellent AI agent integration via the Azure MCP Server for querying cost data in Azure Data Explorer)
The Azure Optimization Engine (for generating custom recommendations like rightsizing, idle resource shutdowns, etc.)
Azure Advisor and Cost Management exports

However, the standard Azure MCP Server does not appear to expose tools for directly accessing FinOps recommendations (e.g., from the Optimization Engine, Azure Advisor cost recs, or similar). This creates a gap in parity with GCP and AWS for agentic FinOps platforms, requiring custom implementations or indirect workarounds.
It would be incredibly valuable if the Azure MCP Server could natively support Azure FinOps optimization features—similar to the AWS Billing MCP Server—allowing agents to:

Retrieve and act on cost optimization recommendations
Query savings opportunities
Perform automated audits

This would accelerate adoption of agentic FinOps on Azure and provide feature parity across major clouds.
I’d love to discuss this further or contribute feedback to the roadmap. Please let me know if there are any planned enhancements in this area or if I’ve missed existing capabilities.
Thank you for your time and for the continued innovations in the FinOps toolkit!
