Is there any way to use this with android auto? #1

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, I'm not sure where else to go.
Do all forms of google assistant intercept require reading the screen, or just the Google Assistant Command one?
I set up a task to append a string to a specific note in my obsidian notes vault based on what I say to google assistant, and this would be extremely useful to be able to do while driving. but google assistant always says "Sorry I didnt understand" when using android auto, even though it works flawlessly when disconnected.
only, if the problem is tasker not being able to read the screen, shouldn't it just pass through an empty string? like, the problem is after/behind google assistant processing, right?
I'm hoping theres just some Setting or something in android auto or battery optimization that I missed that would let this work in Android Auto, so has anyone else gotten this working in a car-based setup? any info is greatly appreciated!
