Dates on tasks

A nice feature to have: dates on tasks. The goal is not to have kind of a Gant's diagram, but to be notified when a task is about to expire.

For instance, we could have a visual mechanism in which everytime a task is near to its deadline, the color of its box changes, or even blinks to make sure the user notices this fact.

That makes a lot of sense, and it guess it might make this more useful on "real" projects, but goes a bit outside of the scope of planning the steps needed to complete a task.

I'll look into it but I'll probably try to simplify it as much as possible, while unlocking the intended usage.

Do you have in mind any specific use case on which it would need more than showing the expiration date, and maybe coloring the letters red if it's the current or next day?

This app allows users to plan their own tasks. To do so, we declare the dependency between the tasks, but I think that we also need a way to prioritaze them.

The simplest way of prioritizing would be with dates (should we consider any other type of prioritization?).

That is the use case: the user needs a reminder of how urgent are the tasks. At least, the "final" tasks (the ones with no children). Then, regarding which tasks is more urgent, I would use a color or another.

To simplify this even more, I would use different shades of red regarding how close we are to the deadline:

• The deadline is in 2 days: pink
• The deadline is tomorrow: pale red
• The deadline is today: red
• The deadline has already past: dark red or even black

And I would show the real date when hovering or clicking in the task.

The use case makes sense, but I'm a bit worried about adding to much color to it, thus making it distracting... I guess the best solution is to try and see what happens ¯_(ツ)_/¯
