Idea: URL Shortener

The Idea of one possible project is an url shortener.
A given and long url should be shorten to use it as an easy link.
We would need following parts:

• Database (MySQL?)
• Backend (logic, connection to DB)
• Frontend (view for user)

The simplest solution would be only one frontend site which only shorten the link.
Possible additions would be:

• Useraccounts to save links for reusing
• "Buyable" links, so that there is no random part like abc.de/dalfhaf rather abc.de/myshortlink (idea of @TrAnn3l )
• ...

Comments? Any ideas of additions?

How about we use the MEAN-Stack?

• MongoDB as Database
• ExpressJS (NodeJS Framework)
• Angular as Frontend-Framework
• NodeJS as Backend

As a lightweight alternative to bootstrap we could also use skeleton to make the site responsive.

• PassportJS for user authentication

Another way to monetize the project would be advertisment, like adf.ly
With an Account (Premium or sth. like that) you could disable the ads.

Basic functionality should be working?! @TrAnn3l and I implemented most of the parts in backend to redirect URLs, put them into database and do some basic checks, or? @TrAnn3l
