[JENKINS-76185] Would it be possible to have PT_PULL_REQUEST also accept gitlab's Merge Requests?

Hi, I am using gitlab and wanted to use the PT_PULL_REQUEST parameter and thought it would work as well for gitlab's Merge Requests. But that is not the case.
Would it be an option to make this work for both with the same type? Or else a separate type?
