Note off samples cut off at end of bars

When one presses a note on event (samples are set to overlap: note off) near the end of the last bar, they cut off. They should continue through the first bar until the note on is released.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Operating system: MacOS Monterey 12.4, Logic Pro X 10.7.9, Reaper v7.16 - May 2024

VMPC2000XL version: VMPC2000XL v0.9.0.19, Built: Fri, 30 Jan 2026 10:12:51, Started: Sat Jan 31 01:40:15 2026

Steps to reproduce:

1. Launch VMPC2000XL Standalone.

2. Load an .ALL file and .PGM.

3. Go to MAIN SCREEN > PROGRAM > BANK > DRUM 1 (for example) > PARAM > Scroll to Overlap: > select NOTE OFF (for a long sample.)

4. Go to MAIN SCREEN > Press Record. Press and hold a Note on event near the end of the last bar and hold it as the sequence returns to the first bar.

5. The note on event ends at the last bar.

The preferred action would be the note on event will hold the note past the end bar, and onto the first bar (for as long as the note on event is held.)

The behaviour you described is what the real MPC2000XL does, at least with Operating System 1.2 (a.k.a. 1.20), Jul. 15, 2004.

Makes me wonder if it's different on other OS versions, and if it's different the MPC3000 and MPC60.

So at the moment I can't really treat it as a bug, but I can see this issue going 2 ways:

1. We keep the behaviour as is.
2. We make the behaviour configurable.

For what it's worth: just like on the real MPC2000XL, you can adjust the duration to a higher value in the step editor after recording, and this duration will be respected during playback.

Yes, it's a behaviour on the MPC3000. If you should make it user configurable that would be cool; as a realtime performance enhancement.

For what it's worth: just like on the real MPC2000XL, you can adjust the duration to a higher value in the step editor after recording, and this duration will be respected during playback.

In the meantime, I will lengthen the note(s) as suggested, as it is how the MPC2000XL performs. Thank you.
