Regression: Legend margins are broken

Follow up to #536 (I think)

I'm not entirely sure why it didn't get flagged by the test suite (probably b/c it's an interactive issue), but my legends are being cut off in Positron now.

Resizing the plot window makes the problem worse.

This looks very much like a regression of #438 In other words, my guess is that some of the settings aren't being passed correctly to recordGraphics(). Or maybe the recordGraphics() logic doesn't work with a container environment?

@vincentarelbundock are you seeing similar behaviour? Unfortunately, I won't have time to look at this for a few days. But if we can't fix quickly, then we should revert #536 ASAP.

Let's not rush to revert this (big and important, IMO) PR. I'm sure we can fix this. Am I right to think this was merged after CRAN release? If so, I don't think there's an emergency. This week is the start of the semester for me, so not sure I'll find a solution now, but Ill try to play around soon.
