g-signin2 broken on EDGE (inside LAN)

I had been commenting on this inside a related ticket that is now "closed," but am still seeing the issue and wanted to give it its own thread

Specifically, g-signin2 fails only on Edge (IE11 DOES work) and only when computers on our LAN attempt to sign into our site at help.swcsd.us. Signing in using Edge works as expected -- even from the same devices -- when browsing the site from outside our LAN.

Our site is hosted on a server inside our LAN, but accessed via a public URL.

Signing in using IE, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari works as expected no matter whether the user is signing in on our LAN or not.

Are the origins the same when you are inside your LAN / outside it? For example, http vs https affects your origins.

I've been having the exact same problem, but with IE11. I copied the html page to Visual Studio, browse with IE11 and get the popup window telling me the webpage is trying to close the window. When I click on yes, I'm still at the Sign in screen.

Seems to work fine for all other browsers, i.e. Chrome, Firefox, Safari.

I am also Experiencing the same issue! IE11 tries to close the popup that passes the Google Auth cookies back the the client.
