Improve app behavior when using multiple garmin devices

I'm using a Garmin Edge 1030plus device with gimporter App & Widget and Android companion app.
The companion App complains error gimporter CIQ app doesn't seem to be installed. But it is.

After playing around a while, and peeking into the source code of the app, i understood that this behavior is caused by my new Garmin smartwatch. The watch doesn't have the gimporter app and/or widget installed, because i don't use the watch for navigation. But the watch is found by the companion app while launching. This is why the app shows the error.

This is very irritating. How can i force the app to NOT connect to the watch?

I can confirm the problem with multiple garmin devices.

when my fenix and my edge is connected I also have errors messages.

mostly, I can solve that when I temporary switch off the connection on my watch.
