📢 IMPORTANT: Twitch Whispers Not Working? Read This First!

If you're having issues receiving whispers/private messages from viewers, this is almost always a token scope issue.

🛠️ Quick Fix:

1. Regenerate your Twitch token at: https://twitchtokengenerator.com/

2. Click "Custom Scope" (NOT "Bot Chat Token" or quick options)

3. Check ALL THREE boxes:

   [✓] chat:read - Read chat messages
   [✓] whispers:read - Receive whispers ← CRITICAL FOR WHISPERS!
   [✓] chat:edit - Send messages

4. Generate token and paste into the mod settings

5. Reconnect to Twitch

🔍 How to Verify:

• After updating your token:
• Have a viewer send a whisper to your bot with: /w YourBotName test
• Check RimWorld logs (Ctrl+F12 or Ludeon/RimWorld/Player.log)
• Look for messages containing "WHISPER" or "TWITCH WHISPER"

📝 Common Symptoms:

✅ Bot receives public chat messages
❌ Bot does NOT receive whispers/private messages
✅ Bot can send public messages
❌ Bot cannot send whispers (deprecated by Twitch anyway)

🤔 Why This Happens:

Twitch requires specific permissions (scopes) for different functions. The default "Bot Chat Token" often doesn't include whispers:read scope, which is required to receive whispers.

💡 Pro Tips:

• Use a separate bot account if possible
• Bookmark this page for token regeneration
• Consider using public chat instead of whispers (works for 95% of users)
• Check token length - should be ~30-40 characters including "oauth:"

If you've followed these steps and whispers still don't work:
Copy your RimWorld log (Player.log file)
Send a test whisper to your bot

Create a new issue with:

• Your mod version
• RimWorld version
• Relevant log excerpts (look for "WHISPER" or "Twitch")
• Confirmation you used all three scopes

⚠️ Known Limitations:

• Twitch Has phase out bot-sent whispers (receiving still works)
• Some users need phone verification on Twitch for whispers
• Rate limits apply (40 whispers/day per user pair)
