[BUG] Performance and resolution issues

When I try to parse this url, it takes about 20 seconds in the node environment. It seems to be parsing out some characters that aren't there, and I haven't figured out why yet.

This may have something to do with Chinese characters. If so, it may be an upstream issue in the parser.

I will leave this open for now, in case anyone experiences a similar issue and can make a reproduction repo to test with a more detailed error report.
