Popcorn Hack 1:

  • Spotify has access to my PII (personal identifiable information), they have access to my email and birth date, as when I signed up it was required to give them this information to make an account. The service, is a music streaming platform that allows me to listen to music with data or wifi anywhere in the world. The service can collect service about my music taste, advertisement preferences - as I listen to ads on the free tier, and other than that its just the initial PII given at signup. If my email is leaked it makes me more vulnerable to phishing attacks or other email based "traps" to get more personal information.

Popcorn Hack 2:

  • Check the email, and look for any minute changes from the sender or in the name of the website itself. For example if the official website for you bank is, https://www.bankofamerica.com/, and the email wants you to go to https://www.bankofamericas.com/ that could be a hint that it is a phishing attack. Moreover, after that especially for emails asking for specific information actually log into your bank account and check if that update exists, and if it is a credible source then go use the email. In addition, you can add spam filters to your email and other methods to reduce spam. Lastly, talk to the official company or provider yourself to see if the email provides something credible you must do.

Popcorn Hack 3:

  • Hackers may attempt to set up a rogue access point (fake networks) to then access user data when people attempt to use the network. Hackers can exploit public Wi-Fi by intercepting data, stealing passwords, or setting up fake networks to trick users. To stay safe, avoid logging into sensitive accounts, use a VPN, and turn off automatic Wi-Fi connections.
