Selecting a lot of text (where scroll is needed)

I'm trying to select a bunch of text (base64) and I need to scroll back a lot in order to select it. However there is no way to select it when you scroll back the selection is gone... Am I missing something? I tried the "Tmux-like" selection but either I'm dumb or it's not working on OSX...

Any clues?
