AI: Issues connecting to Blablador

I am coding a bunch of interview transcripts. I have built the code book with memos for each category and code. When I try to run an AI code analysis I am getting an error message that reads: File "qualcoder/ai_async_worker.py", line 108, in run

I went to AI Assisted Coding, Chose a Code and File and get the error. This happens regardless of which Analytic Prompt I use.

Expected behavior :


I expect the system to identify text that fits the code criterion.

Hi I cannot help with AI errors. When Kai sees this, he can advise you.

Sorry, I've missed this one. It seems that the basic communication with the AI is not working. Can you tell me which AI model you use?

The easiest way to test the basic communication is to start a "general chat" in the AI Chat workspace and ask a random question.

Also, I just remembered I tried connecting my Claude as well and it didn't work either

Blablador is slowly phasing out its old server and switching to a more powerful one. This might be the reason for your error. Please follow these steps to connect QualCoder to the new server:

• close QualCoder
• open the file config.ini in the QualCoder settings folder. On Windows, this would be C:\Users\USERNAME\.qualcoder\config.ini, on Mac ~\.qualcoder\config.ini.
• got down to the section [ai_model_Blablador]
• change the value for api_base from https://helmholtz-blablador.fz-juelich.de:8000/v1 to the new address https://api.helmholtz-blablador.fz-juelich.de/v1/
• save & close config.ini and restart QualCoder

Please report back if this works.

I will change the title of this issue so that other users of Blablador can find it more easily.

Thank you. I am unable to locate config.ini I have searched and look for it manually but can't find it. Here is a screen shot of what comes up with I try to search in finder for it

The .qualcoder folder is in your home folder, but hidden. The see it, open the finder and in the menu bar, click Go → Go to Folder… Now enter this path: ~/.qualcoder and hit Enter.

@ccbogel: Since this affects alls users of the free Blablador AI service, we might consider making a new release soon that incorporates the new server address. Until then, I'll leave a message in the wiki and on the release page (later today or tomorrow).

@jen-lgtm: Are you using "Blablador Huge"? The model seems to be down, I get server errors too. Please switch to the normal Blablador profile until the issue is resolved.

The issue was already fixed in code about a month ago: ca052fa

Regarding the new version: Let me make some minor adjustments that are still on my list, and we can release a new version some time in December, I guess.
