VICE uses hard-coded checksum byte to detect KERNAL revision

VICE emulator does not load modified KERNAL ROMs with altered but correct checksums. It uses the checksum byte to distinguish between different KERNAL revisions and loads its default KERNAL if the checksum byte is not 0x81.

The VICE team is investigating it.
