Exe For Latest Version?

Just wondering if we could get an exe for the latest version added to GitHub?

Also, as an aside, I have a couple questions.
First is, would you mind if I have an application automatically download the latest exe? Trying to think of ways of making things easier for my users. 🙂

And would you mind letting me know how you created the exes? I've got a python cli app that I'd also like to make into an exe.

Sure, I'm currently in the process of refactoring a few minor things and setting up and automated exe build on new releases, though that is still in-progress. Current exe releases are mainly one-off at the moment since I needed to hardcode the version parameter. The importlib.metadata method does not work as the package is not installed with a pyproject.toml in an exe context.

You can have a look at the draft PR #41 for a minimal example on creating a packaged exe file (worked for me with the caveat mentioned here and in the PR). PR #40 is based on a poetry plugin to make it easier, but since I'm moving away from poetry due to the rust refactor requiring a different build backend, I'll be closing that PR.

Sure, no problem. Once the exe build/release action is built, exes should be available for all future versions. In the meantime, I've simplified the install process by recommending uv instead of pipx, which does not require python and can automatically install it along with the CLI tool if needed.
