Your Project Initial Details

Hi, I visited your YouTube link, A general overview video and it filled me in on a lot of details.

Didn’t know how far along in the project you were. Nor what platform you were using. Visual Studio I heard about a couple days ago, this guy had done a 3 hour video on writing an HTML webpage. Will have to view it to learn some new tricks.

Some people put so much info in their README file. I guess because it shows automatically below the main page file listing.

Oops, I forgot something.

When I tapped your YouTube link, it did not open YouTube in a new tab. This surprised me. If I press and hold the link, don’t know if it will give me the option of opening it in a new tab.

I doubt that it is possible to have links open in a new tab through readme files.

Explaining something to someone else so they understand it like you do is the hardest thing in the world.

It took me a while to figure this out.

on iPadOS when you long press a URL link, it opens a list box with selections.

One of them is (the top one actually) Open in background.

In Safari, this opens the link in a new tab (who knows what it called in Microsoft Windows).

But I would swear one time it said, “Open in new tab” (not new tab group).

Anyway, hope this clears that up.

How can you or anyone make their repo more visible on GitHub?

Recently added Python and Pandas to a laptop. At some point used Homebrew to do this.

If you visit the homebrew public repo, their readme file has a link that goes to their discussions. Neat trick.

The downside here is that dozens of people, maybe hundreds, leave questions here, but almost none of them are answered. At least that I can see.

No idea on getting organic reach on Github. Not what I'm trying to do here. I simply added discussion threads to my project because Github prompted it.

I can't help you learn this stuff. I've barely used it myself.

My goal here is a public portfolio of past work. As long as people follow the GPLv3 license then I don't care what they do with it. I'm not going to support any of it unless someone wants to fund further development.

If you have some other plans for your repos then look for someone that is doing similar to what you want to achieve.
